Getting a diagnosis
NHS England is working towards a new diagnosis target called the Faster Diagnosis Standard (FDS). This means you should find out whether you have cancer or not within 28 days of your referral. This includes having the necessary tests and being told their results.
There are many different types of tests or scans you may have to find out if you have cancer. The type you need depends on the symptoms and the part of the body affected. You may continue to have tests during and after your treatment in order to monitor your cancer.
Please ensure you fully read your appointment information as it will give you the detail you need to know regarding any tests you are having.
